The primary motivation for Grid Partners before we even opened was to encourage and allow our customers to be able to try out different seats in our showroom, so that they could really get a sense of what works for them, their bodies and of course, their cars.

A question that we get a lot is "Will this seat fit in my car?" And, while we want you to come to GP and experience them, we've created a Seat Guide focusing on seat selection based on not only your car, but how you want to use your seat.

We've created two categories: Focused and Aggressive. The Focused driver tracks their car (or frequents our local canyons), but also relies on the car for daily use. The Aggressive driver generally uses this car as a dedicated track car.

Let's get into it!

SMALL COCKPIT CARS

Cars with smaller cockpits tend to be only able to allow seats with a smaller footprint, both in terms of the base of the seat as well as the overall width and height.

Cars in this category include: Miata, S2000, GR86/FRS, Lotus, 500 Abarth, 124 Abarth, older Porsche, Z3 Clownshoe.

Here are our recommendations!:

FOCUSED

-Cobra Nogaro (as seen above in our client Brandon's Miata) *can accept Stock Seatbelts, as well as any harness up to 6 point.

-Tillett B8 *can accept Stock Seatbelts, as well as any harness up to 6 point.

-Cobra Monaco Pro

AGGRESSIVE

-Sabelt X-Pad

-Tillett B6 Screamer (as seen below in a Lotus)

___

MEDIUM COCKPIT CARS

The Medium Cockpit cars are the most common, of course.

This category includes (but isn't limited to): 1M, M2, M3 (up to E90), Supra, Modern Porsche, WRX, Lancer Evo, Camaro, Mustang, Veloster N, Elantra N, Civic (all), GR Corolla, etc.

With such variety, and ease of seat placement, this category is the most diverse in terms of selection.

FOCUSED

-Cobra Nogaro *can accept Stock Seatbelts, as well as any harness up to 6 point.

-Tillett B8 *can accept Stock Seatbelts, as well as any harness up to 6 point.

-Sabelt GT3 *can accept Stock Seatbelts, but will need to be routed. Ideal for any harness up to 6 point.

-Cobra Suzuka

-Cobra Sebring *head containment seat

___

LARGE COCKPIT CARS

Large Cockpit Cars are getting more and more common, particularly in modern performance cars.

This category includes (but is not limited to): Tesla (all models), F80 M3, G80 M3, M4, M5, X5, X3 Charger, Challenger, Cayenne.

-Cobra Imola *can accept Stock Seatbelts, but will need to be routed. Ideal for any harness up to 6 point.

AGGRESSIVE

-Sabelt GT Pad (as seen above in a Spec Tesla). The GT Pad is absolutely our preferred seat for this category, as the actual bucket is one size, but the seat can be customized to the driver via pad kits. Great for endurance racing, and a generally great track day seat. As shown, is a head containment seat.

-Sabelt X-Pad

-Sabelt Titan

-Sabelt Taurus *head containment seat

-Tillett B6 Screamer

-Cobra Suzuka

-Cobra Sebring *head containment seat

HARNESSES (AND HOW TO USE THEM!)

We are thrilled to offer 3 of the best harness brands (as far as we see it): Sabelt, Schroth Racing and Takata (produced in Germany by Schroth).

Within our brands, we have a wide variety of options. However, harnesses and the way that they are used are very specific. Your safety on track is our primary concern, so let's talk about how to use harnesses safely.

For the Focused driver, we have a few recommendations. The first is theSchroth Rallye 3 ASM. This acts as a 4 point harness, and installs to the stock lower belt mounting points in the front, and top rear seat belt mounting point in the rear. It fits *most cars, and was designed by Schroth to be used with stock performance car seats, and can be used also with the Cobra Nogaro, Tillett B8, Cobra Imola. As seen below:

Also for the Focused driver we offer the Schroth Racing QuickFit Pro. This is a 4 point harness *designed for specific chassis only* (many BMW chassis can accept this harness) and is installed via the factory seat belt receptacles. As seen below:

For the Aggressive driver, we offer a wide variety of 4 point and 6 point harnesses. We need to tell you, unless you are running a strong harness bar or roll cage, we *do not recommend using a 4 or 6 point harness, as they need to be safely attached. This is exactly why we stock the Schroth Rallye 3 ASM and QuickFit Pro.

If you can run a full harness, we recommend:

-Sabelt 6 Point Steel (great for a build with a slightly lower budget)

-Sabelt 6 Point Enduro Silver (the gold standard of 6 point harnesses)

Additionally, we have Porsche GT3 specific harnesses (designed to fit the factory carbon buckets) by Schroth Racing, as seen here.

You can view our entire harness selection here, including Takata and Sabelt 4 point harnesses, which are great for 'period correct' race car builds.
